 I
løbet af 5 aprildage, fejrer Nordisk Film og Imperial Bio et ganske særligt
dansk 50 års jubilæum, med en kavalkade af film præsenteret i filmsystemet
over alle filmsystemer - 70MM.
I 1958 have 70mm filmsystemet "Todd-AO"
premiere i 3 Falke Bio på Frederiksberg. Den første film var musicalen
"South Pacific", der gjorde så voldsomt indtryk på publikum, at den blev
spillet næsten uafbrudt i hele 4 år. Det var "The perfect show in Todd-AO".
Hvorfor er 70mm så noget særligt? Det er det fordi 70mm film er ca 3 gange
større almindelig 35mm film. Det har en uovertruffen billedro på det
store buede lærred. Det betyder, at billedet bliver MEGET skarpere, kontrast
og farvemætningen MEGET bedre, og endelig kommer der MEGET mere lys på
lærredet.
Publikum får et større udbytte af film i 70mm udgave med knivskarpe
billeder og krystal klar lyd. 70mm film opleves mere intensivt,
realistisk og nærmest 3-dimensionelt. 70mm film er en oplevelse, der får
alt hvad du tidligere har set, til at blegne. Publikum får virkeligt valuta
for billetten!
I vore dage, kan man kalde 70mm film for en "high-definition" billede- og
lydoplevelse, og det kan KUN kan opleves i en biograf af Imperial Bio's
dimensioner. Imperial Bio åbnede i 1961 og er den eneste danske "road-show"
biograf, der er tilbage fra dengang hvor mange film havde premiere i 70mm
med "6-sporet stereofonisk magnetlyd".
Nordisk Film har fornøjelsen af at præsenterer en buket af de største film
som Hollywood producerede i 1960erne. For første gang i mange år vises disse
gigantfilm igen i nye kopier i deres originale "road-show" versioner. Det
vil sige helaftensfilm i 70mm version med ouverture, pausemusik og Ent'racte.
Benyt denne enestående chance til at se hvordan film skal præsenteres, når
det skal være rigtigt luksus. Kom og oplev følelsen af at være med i filmen.

Todd-AO is 70mm film, projected on BIG screens. 70mm film
guarantees rock-steady picture quality, thanks to the large
image area and high frame rate. The negative is 4 times lager
than standard 35mm film (1,85:1). The 70mm film format is often
associated with the big epics and musicals from the 1960s.

A magnificent spectacle with a majestic, multitudinous cast,
"Cleopatra" is arguably the biggest, brashest, most
sprawling historical epic in modern movie history. Famously
begun by Rouben Mamoulian and then shelved due to the illness of
star Elizabeth Taylor, the film was re-started with a different
director (Joe Mankiewicz) and a new cast that saw Richard Burton
replace Keith Baxter and Rex Harrison take over from Peter
Finch. The resulting motion picture is one of the all-time
costume extravaganzas – a gigantic, OTT slice of Hollywoodery
with the added sparkle of witnessing the Taylor/Burton dalliance
explode into a full-blown love affair. Based on Carlo Mario
Franzero’s biography, "Cleopatra" is more than
just a lavish blockbuster; it is an example of runaway filmmaking at its

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Danish premiere
Ten years on from its American release and by far the biggest film of
all time, "Titanic" is still one of the best reasons this year to go to
the movies, especially with the enhancement of the digital sound
experience at the Imperial Bio and the inadequacies of the film’s
video version. James Cameron’s epic was nominated for 14 Oscars and won
11 including best picture, best director and best cinematography. It
deserved them all, though the stand-out performance by Gloria Stuart, as
the aged heroine of 1912, was overlooked. She was 87 at the time of her
nomination; now 97, she still makes the occasional appearance in movies.
